Hi there.

Welcome to this little place I've found on the interwebs to journal my lovely and creatively chaotic life.

This picture of me was taken by a dear friend and amazing artist Britt Van Deusen

Belonging

What does it feel like to belong? Do you feel like you belong? In your body? In your family? In your community? In your life?

What it feels like to belong.

I am patient with myself when I'm belonging in the moment.

To belong is to feel like you are wanted and noticed.

When you belong somewhere, there are never excuses for the mental "have nots." Only the thankfulness of the "haves."

I have health and I notice it. I give my body thanks for working so hard to walk me through this physical experience.

I have love and give love.

My belonging echos out of each moment to touch those around me with an energy hug. And we belong together so I am recognized, acknowledged and hugged back by them.

To belong is to feel right in my your space, that physical moment wherever you are. When you belong, you are settled. Your heart and mind are calm.

How can I create belonging for my children as they grow up? I am creating belonging for my children as they grow up.

My attention to you in the moment offers belonging. Your attention to me in the moment offers belonging.

May we all look around us and offer gratitude in the moment.

* Post photo by Charlotte Muhlenfeld, age 5, waiting patiently for her tri-colored quinoa mixed with organic baby food.

I didn't even know this picture was on my phone. I found a series of me preparing food for her and taking muffins for the family out of the oven.  I can remember glancing over at Charlotte as she waited for her food and asking her to put my phone down.

To find these after writing this piece on belonging during my morning 10-minute writing session makes my heart so full of love.

This is the essence of belonging. To have the opportunity to see one's self belonging in their own life.  Unposed. Just being.

This fills me with so much love and honestly makes me cry. To see myself working to keep the people in my house fed and thriving AND to be smiling while no one was looking. Just pleasantly doing the boring, mundane, life things.  I have so much appreciation for my everyday life.

Thank you Charlotte for capturing this moment of Mommy belonging.  Your inquisitive nature is a gift. May you always keep it and feel like you belong wherever you are.

Lotsa Love,

Leah
